Hello readers,
I am again reviewing a fantastic 5-star hockey romance by the queen of all hockey romances, Elle Kennedy.
I had never heard anyone talking about this book before getting it from the library, but I was surprised by how fast I read it and how much I loved it.
If you’re looking for a sizzling, heartfelt romance and just plain fun, look no further than Body Check by Elle Kennedy. This book perfectly exemplifies why Kennedy is one of the best in sports romance. When you open the first page, you’ll be drawn into a story that feels natural, unforced, and completely captivating.
I will admit it feels quite different to read this book compared to the off-campus, briar u and campus diaries series, but not because of a wrong reason. It just feels different due to the age of the characters and the maturity of their communication.
Body Check follows the story of Brody Croft, a hotshot professional hockey player, and Hayden Houston, an intelligent and independent woman determined to stay focused on her career.
Their paths cross suddenly, and the chemistry between them is undeniable from their first-ever interaction. What’s refreshing is how genuine their relationship feels. There's no instant love or forced drama—just two people with natural chemistry and real obstacles to overcome.
Brody’s life is all about hockey, fame, and keeping his emotions in check, while Hayden is cautious when it comes to love, focused on her art gallery and maintaining her independence. But as they spend more time together, the walls they've built around their hearts crumble in a way that feels so right and real.
The true highlight of the book is the romance between Brody and Hayden. It’s slow-burning, yet the spark is there from the moment they meet. Elle Kennedy has a talent for writing characters who feel like they could walk right off the page and into real life.
Their banter, struggles, and tender moments make their relationship feel natural. You can see why they’re drawn to each other, and watching them fall in love is a beautiful journey.
In addition, the hockey element adds an extra layer of excitement and depth to Brody's character without overshadowing the romance. Kennedy strikes the perfect balance between the sports and romantic elements, so you get the best of both worlds (in every one of her books, I add).
Body Check is a must-read for anyone who loves a good romance with a strong, emotionally charged storyline. The characters are well-developed, the romance is perfectly paced, and the ending will leave you with a smile. It’s one of those books that repeatedly makes you fall in love with the genre. If you're in the mood for a 5-star, feel-good romance, this book is for you!
Have you read this super amazing and sweet book? If not, I highly recommend it!
Read you soon,
Bea.
